Cane Carving Classes

Heirloom Cane carving is for those in search of:

• Unique and personalized gifts for men, women and children.
• Heirloom quality collectables meant to be handed down for generations. (Well done Heirloom Canes normally sell for $800 to $1200 each.)
• Portable and adaptable carving projects requiring a minimum number of carving tools.
• Perfect donation for wounded warriors, recovering patients or anyone requiring assistance with balance.
• Distinctive, personal accessory for those who simply wish to be dapper, or to invite attention and conversation.

Course Description:

In these custom-tailored classes, Janice teaches her techniques for carving your own Heirloom Cane. Using pre-patterned cane blanks not included with the course tuition fee, you will receive detailed training for each phase of cane carving and finishing. In addition, printed instructions and a resource guide for materials will be furnished. Carving experience is helpful, but not required for this course.

Each student and every pattern require a different amount of time for completion. There will be time for practice between classes. Even Janice cannot complete a cane in a set number of days, so please do not be disappointed when your project takes longer than the course period.

Course Information:

Cane carving courses are taught at Janices’ studio in Spring Branch, Texas and courses in Heirloom Cane carving are scheduled as requested. Courses can be scheduled as one-on-one experiences or in groups limited to four (4) participants in order to insure personalized training.

Classes are generally scheduled for 3 consecutive days to begin the cane carving process and additional follow-ups as requested by participants. Hands-on instruction fees @ $175/day ($125/day for wounded military veterans) plus materials (pre-patterned cane blank & special accessories) average $120).

Tools required:

• Carving glove (Kevlar)
• Carving knives, small gouges, & v-tools (Tools will be provided for in-studio use so that participants can decide what they wish to purchase in the future.)
